It’s finally Spring meaning it’s now completely okay to rock all the Spring 2017 trends. My personal favorite has to be supersized bags, which brings me to introduce you to MAHI Leather.
MAHI specializes in beautiful made-to-order full grain unisex leather bags finished with “sturdy brass fittings and robust YKK zippers” that’ll surely bring out the wanderlust in you. From duffle bags to satchels to totes, you’ll find something for every trip or outing, no matter how near or far.
Wanderlust is really at the forefront of MAHI’s creations. As their bags are often named after famous travelers.
“For example, our Drake holdall is named after Sir Francis Drake. Our Armada Duffle was named after and inspired by the 16th-century Spanish sailing fleet and is shaped like a ship’s hull.”
MAHI was founded about 3 years ago after its founder, Camilla, traveled around India and fell in love with the beautiful craftsmanship she came across.
MAHI’s mission statement: To connect consumers with craftsmen, offer unmatched value, and hopefully do some good along way.
“MAHI Leather takes its name from the Mahi River. The coordinates, posted on our badge, 22° N, 72° E, represent the mouth of the river, where it joins the Arabian Sea in Gujarat, India.”
As India has served as MAHI Leather’s inspiration, MAHI wanted to give back. About 103 million people in India do not have access to safe water. So when you purchase a leather bag from MAHI they will donate $1.50 from every purchase to FRANK Water Projects, a UK-based charity which has helped over 300,000 people gain access to clean water since 2005, as stated on MAHI’s website.
“As of January 2017, MAHI has donated $7,439 to FRANK Water which provided 113 families with individual rainwater harvesting systems and delivered safe water to 510 people in their own homes.”
The reason why I decided to shine the spotlight on MAHI is because they offer larger-sized bags that at first glance may be more suitable for traveling, but now that I’ve seen supersized bags all over the runways for Spring 2017, I think they would be great for everyday use. They would make a great statement piece for any look. Take a look at the outfit below featuring The MAHI Yale Clip-up:
This look is so versatile and can work for any outing. If you’re heading to class, keep the strap on. If you’re just going out, simply take off the shoulder strap. Traveling? Keep that strap on and pack some snacks, your iPad, and a book or two. I decided to pair the bag with denim, Fenty slides and a brown leather choker to give it more of bohemian vibe. Then finished it off with a ruffled top that incorporates the Victorian Spring trend.
I’m so excited to build my Spring wardrobe. Which Spring trend are you most excited for? Comment below!
