Poem for Libya (written in 2011)

Crushed spirits and a silenced era
Libya once filled with this lava
The volcano has erupted
The fear instilled in hearts disrupted

Silence has been pushed aside
That’s when began the genocide
The people have spoken
The revolution doors have been opened

Streets of Libya filled with strength and pride
With love and respect for those who have died
Blood spilled and homes shaken
Fires burned and lives stolen

Gaddafi, not a man nor an animal
but the outright devil
Committing crimes against humanity
Causing nothing more but calamity

Murderer, Terrorist, Monster
It’s definitely time for his ouster
More than 40 years, time for a change
The song of freedom is just within range
